[Bookplate for Coombe] In black ink. This ex libris displays a sable (black) escutcheon with two bars, argent (silver). The coat of arms is charged with seven bees volant, three-over-three-over-one. The escutcheon is charged with a straight wreath and at the crest a demi-lion rampant. Around the neck of the lion is a coronet. Below the escutcheon appears a banner containing the originators Latin motto. The verso of the ex libris is faintly marbled. 22. [Bookplate for Catholic University of Lublin by Kazimierz Wiszniewski] Woodcut for the University Library of the Catholic University of Lubin, Poland with an eagle displayed and crown above the head of the eagle. 23. [Bookplate for Brisset] In black ink. Escutcheon parted per pale. Dexter side, gyrony of six pieces, argent [white] and ermines. The sinister side, argent with three escalops, two over one. On top of the escutcheon sits a grated peers' helmet surrounded by mantling. Below the escutcheon is a banner containing the French motto. 24. [Bookplate for Bond] This bookplate consists of an argent (silver) escutcheon with a sable (black) chevron. On the chevron are three plate (argent roundlets). Atop the shield is a straight crest wreath, on which sits a lion, sejant. Below the shield is a banner containing the Latin motto. 25. [Bookplate for Arnold William Thomas] In black ink on white paper. Shield: Or (gold), on a fesse dancette sable (black), coticed gules (red), between three birds sable perched, addorsed and elevated. Crest: a bird sable perched, addorsed and elevated, atop an open book argent (silver) and a crest wreath, argent and vert (green) with mantling. 26. [Bookplate for A. T. Higginson] Black ink on white paper. The crest features a knight’s armoured right arm extending from a crown. The crown is decorated with black ermines and wraps around a black top that looks like cloth. The ends of the crown do not meet, but instead extend out to a point to the right. The arm has a twisted rope with dangling ends hanging from the hand and the hand clutches a weapon that is a spear on one end and has two prongs on the other end. The shield is argent with sable dots and a sable pale. The dexter and sinister portions of the shield are surrounded by a white border marked off with a thin black line. The pale is charged with a stone castle tower with a door and three windows. The pale is also charged with two white circles, one above and one below the tower. The bottom and right hand side of the shield is shaded with black. Below the shield, a ribbon with curling ends features the motto printed in capitalized, black, sans serif font. Underneath the ribbon, the bookplate owner’s name is printed in larger, sentence case, black, Gothic font. 27. [Bookplate for A. H. Aszkanazy] Egyptian scene with female figure sitting on a throne with a pyramidal structure in the background. The image is surrounded by a frame decorated with a winged sun disk and hieroglyphics.
